James (Jim) Andrew Kohut was born on November 4, 1952 in Los Angeles, California. He passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2023 in Fontana, California.
He was the youngest of seven children born to Irma and Andrew Kohut.
Jim graduated from Baldwin Park High School in Baldwin Park, California. Following graduation, he attended community college.
He could be a jokester/prankster at times, like the time he “borrowed” a school bus from his high school and drove it to the end of school property, turning around and driving the bus back to its driver. Although he loved pranks, he had a very big heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He used his talents in the construction trades by building schools, so he never got away from learning.
Besides working, he enjoyed his time off fishing at his favorite fishing holes. The fish got bigger every time he told the same story. In his later years he worked for the railroads, a job he enjoyed and took a lot of satisfaction in. He was dependable and had a great work ethic, whatever the task. Jim will be missed by his family, friends and those who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Irma and Andrew, brothers, John and Joe and sisters, Margie and Ann. He is survived by his brother Peter, sister Cathy (husband Bob), and many nieces and nephews.
